Make your Turkey Perky!

What a week! Loving the holidays so far! More time to get together with friends and family! This week it is soooo important to stay on track with your diet! Yes, of course it's ok to indulge, but at the same time we can't just throw away all the hard work from the rest of the year. Every Thanksgiving house makes a salad right? ok so LOAD UP ON SALAD!!! DRINK LOTS OF WATER! Have some fresh juice before you head out to your family dinner to keep your tummy a little full before you eat. I still haven't decided if I will have a piece of Turkey or not. I don't really want to but we will see. Don't skip the gym!!!!! I missed yoga today because I feel like I am getting a cold and my body needed some rest but I am thinking of doing a yoga DVD at home. So many germs out there!!! Wash your hands and drink lots of fluids! About to juice some grapefruits! Remember Santa will be asking you soon if you are naughty or nice! If you are going to indulge just at least skip the desser...

Water! we all need it, but which one is the best kind to drink? I grew up on Arrowhead but have now switched to Figi. I also like Acqua Panna but it's a little difficult carrying a glass container to the gym, which is where I do most of my water drinking. What's your favorite water? Please don't say tap! The only thing I use tap water for is washing my hands and showering. All cooking and drinking is with purified/ bottled/filtered water not sure the exact description. When I used to go to restaurants I used to just ask for an Iced T or something other than bottled water because I felt like bottled water was kind of seen as "expensive" snob water. Kinda like why would you pay for it when they bring you free water with a lemon (which is prob full of germs btw). Now that I am totally against tap water and making better choices, I order bottled or sparkling water. Yes its a couple more bucks but hey why is it ok to spend a few dollars on PEPSI or Coke or other...

Quitting smoking and other bad stuff

Yes I know what you are thinking "I'm not a quitter" Very funny! I used to say it all the time too. So here is the deal people here is what I have decided to quit this year while I am Jesus's age 33 -Smoking -Drinking -Eating unhealthy food -some other stuff too but these are the external ones -oh and spending money which I don't think I have an addiction to but I do like to go out with friends alot to eat and I do like to shop but I really can't afford that right now and even if I could I don't really NEED anything Ok so smoking...lets see how I am doing so far. I was doing well for a while, but seems like every time something went wrong I would go buy a pack. After a long night of chain smoking with my friends I think I am finally DONE. I even drank alot one night and didn't smoke. Well there weren't any cigarettes around but still I didn't want one. Ok so I think I may have this not smoking thing down. YEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A word or two about dairy

So I bought this big container of Greek yogurt from Costco and I have been making breakfast with it, snacks, desserts etc. and I am officially done with Greek yogurt for a long time! I bought this because I felt like I was addicted to cheese and lebni (Lebanese style yogurt). Turns out I am addicted but what am I addicted to? The sugar! The Faye Greek yogurt tastes like heaven when you add honey which is SUGAR! yes its much "healthier" and more natural than processed sugar but its still sugar. So whats my point? The point is I need to stop eating dairy all together! JUST STOP! Ok so this morning I ate egg whites with one egg for breakfast. What do I do with the brand new box of egg whites I just bought??? So the goal here is to go completely Vegan but doing it step by step. So here's a really great STEP. BROWN RICE

I LOVE BROWN RICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK so if you need some carbs and protein not to mention alot of fiber!!!!!!!!! go buy some brown rice! the precooked ones are awesome bc you can take them too work or anywhere and just pop it in the microwave (I know its horrible but sometimes it's freakin convenient)...I may have blogged about this before but even if I am repeating it ...get yourself some brown rice its great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok bye

yummy breakfast! saw this at Costco how cute is this?? a nice way to organize those coffee PODs even though I dont drink coffee ;) tis the season to be jolly smile! don't buy this I am so returning it ..smells like  chemicals! Rainy Thursday

Congrats to our Prez! so it's Thursday and so far I have really kept on track yey! finally! I have been to Costco, Trader Joes and Whole foods this week! Part of the reason why I am doing so well! I have been snacking a little more than I think I need to but I have been home alot looking for jobs and I have to say that can get extremely booooooooooooring! So today I woke up and it was cold and rainy so I decided to make some oatmeal for breakfast. I just made some steel cut oats with apples, cinnamon and about a tablespoon of peanut butter and honey. I made enough to feed my parents too and leftover for tomorrow. Now its lunch time and I am kinda confused on what to have. I wonder how many people are wondering the same exact question WHAT SHOULD I EAT FOR LUNCH TODAY? ...............TO BE CONTINUED ;) WOW! that was fast ..so I completely forgot that I made salmon last night! Make that Change

It's election day! A day of new beginnings! Well I think it is pretty obvious that Obama will be reelected. Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.   Barack Obama This may sound silly but this quote can be used for your health too. I know I have been very up and down in this journey of eating right and exercising but I think I am mentally ready to really make a change. I now have the tools and knowledge to know what I have to do to keep me on track. Here are a few steps that have helped me. 1-wake up and pray 2-start off with a healthy breakfast such as fruit, oatmeal with fruit, a fruit smoothie, Greek yogurt with some fruit and gronola (I dont meant the one packed with sugar, I bought the one Brenda from Leansecrets.com recommends the Go Raw buckwheat) Do you see a trend here?? FRUIT!!! I also do eggs or eggwhites....I am trying to eat healt...

Going wild

So last night I decided to open up my bag of wild rice that's been collecting dust. I researched online and found out that I can put cranberries in there which I happen to have a box of also. So I boiled the rice for about 30 minutes added cranberries and parsley a little olive oil and salt and it was terrible! Yes terrible! I had to throw it out ! Cooking is definitely a learning process. The most wonderful thing is when friends or family members eat your food with a smile even though they don't think it's that great.Granted it's going to be a shock to eat pumpkin pie that has 99.9 of the fat and sugar taken out of the recipe. My dad for example said " I'd rather eat things that taste good" lol! So back to my wild rice ..I had to eat the rice and it was so bad :/ halfway through the bowl I decided to dump it out..I still have the rest of my wild rice bag..I would love to hear your recipes!

Hallows Eve

It's finally over ..I made it through Halloween without eating a single piece of candy or chocolate 😱instead I made a delicious healthy pumpkin pie here's a pic of my ingredients plus 2 eggs (which I found out can be subbed with apple sauce for vegans ) smelled and tasted great!! Oh AND I added a date for some more sweetness (next time I will as some more)
