Out with the old....
The Spring Cleaning continues...
So I took on the crazy task of actually cleaning out my childhood bedroom and boy did I realize how much crap I was holding onto physically and mentally! I highly recommend decluttering to everyone, unless your house is already perfect and bravo to you if it is! you must be a control freak ;) hehe ok so here is a list I made myself because I definitely had a few anxiety attacks thinking this will never end..
Sarah's room
-Jewelry (I put these in a pile and have not attempted to start yet yikes)
-Music/Electronics (CDs and antyhing like DVDs etc) I also went to best buy and had them recycle my old CD player and my old cell phones and any other electronics I had been holding onto for no reason (don't tell my parents they are gonna be sad when they notice we no longer have a boombox) listen to every CD to see if you really care to keep it..I also wrote on CDs with marker so I don't wonder what they are every time I see them, including CDs of pics..this takes some time but once you do it, it's done forever
-Workout yoga mats, the ball I'm never going to use, elastic weight training random thing that I gave to dad so he can use it
-cold weather accessories (anything from gloves to umbrellas..keeping this with the clothes category which I haven't even tackled yet)
-Under Bed...yes this is an entire category ...which brings us to our next category,,,,
-Pictures...now this is going to be a fun project...I need a little break before I do this but feel free to cut ex boyfriends out of pics ;) If it's someone you never wish to talk to again that is...if it's someone you are still friends with, maybe you can ask them if they want the pics (I did that with a friend) or you can also take a pic of your picture and save it so you don't feel bad for throwing it away....just focus on the present and future but of course it is fun to keep some memories to laugh and reminisce...Just hold the pic and see how it makes you feel, if it makes you feel good keep it by all means but if not, tear it up girl! this part feels really good! trust me!
- CLOTHES - ahh this should be fun, once I get to it I will post some pointers, if anyone has any feel free to share them please
-Halloween- I had costumes from 1985 that had to go, put these away neatly in a drawer or box and not in an ugly bag like I had it
-Shoes-I did a quick skim through of this since I kinda already did this last season, I still kept some shoes which I am pretty sure I wont wear but they are so cute! so need to revisit this category
-Stationary and other nick nack, this took forever but use the same rule as the bathroom hold the object for one second and decide toss or keep
-Books and magazines-put these all on a shelf but need to go through and give back some that I borrowed and also get rid of all the books that I kept since I was 10, no exaggeration! these will go to donation
-Purses-Don't have too many so this won't take too long
Few things I learned about feng shui-
you need the following elements in your room
Earth-flowers
Water-the blue which is my bedsread
Fire-I have big red jewelry box and I always light candles
Wood -my furniture is wood
Metal-I have some coins from different countries I have vissited
The major thing I learned was making what ever the purpose of the room is the center. I don't sleep in this room because I can hear my parents talking at night and I like sleeping in my brother's old room because there is a TV in there (totally against feng shui to have a TV in there btw)
After reading this I moved my bed in my "hang out room" to the side and put my couch in the center, so it can be my hang out/closet room. Take a look on my IG for a pic
