Break a sweat every day!

Wow! what a difference a work out makes. I went back to "cyclates" today for a spin class that was awesome! I paid $16 for the class but hey I pay that much for lunch or dinner all the time and I feel like this was totally worth it. I feel so much better, working out is really like Prozac with zero side effects besides looking great! Tomorrow morning I am going hiking with a friend and then Sunday my gym reopens yey! I finally checked out "intelligentsia" with a friend and I had to try one of their specialties .. Cappuccino with real milk and honey ..tasted as good as it looks!  cute vintage purses at a store nearby..I should start selling my mom's old purses! I needed some energy before my workout so I had a delicious smoothie!  After our workout my friend and I went to Tender Greens, yum!! love the food there..I usually get the vegan salad which comes with hummus and quinoa and I add albacore tuna ..it's soo good it doesnt even need dressi...

It's Friday!

TGIF! Have had a busy week and haven't really worked out much since gym has been closed. This is really effecting my mood and focus along with the help of lovely hormones. Feeling better today though since it's FRIDAY and happiness is in the air =) Chin Chin Chinese chicken salad with light dressing option no crunchies no chicken yum! I couldn't believe that this was good for me cause it tasted sooooo good!  so this didn't taste as delicious cold so i decided to blend it ... watermelon mmm my attempt to make soup...wish I had a baby cause I make the best baby food! dates are addictive and watch out full of sugar! colorful bell peppers are a great snack because  they taste good and are crunchy ..I like to have them washed  and ready so I don't have any excuse not to eat them I love this stuff..they carry them at starbucks now and ask for the $1 off coupon I like the green one (lowest calorie)  kinda ...

Pilates and Pita

Gday Mate! Can you tell I watched the movie with the Australian? "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" was a really cool documentary on how people can change their life around through juice fasting. It was such a coincidence that Dr. Fuhrman was the main character's doctor. It just proves to me that I am on the right path ;)  I have considered doing it but I think it will be hard in social settings like going out with friends. I do need some more discipline lately. Last night I wasn't feeling good at all =/ Today, I had a shot of ginger at Whole foods with some cayenne pepper to help with my nausea. I also had an Almond Milk Latte which is pretty much cheating because of the caffeine. For lunch I had a Veggie Sandwich with whole wheat pita at Coral Tree. The bread didn't taste good to me at all! This is proof that the changes in my diet are really effecting my pallet and veering me off of certain addictions like breads, salt and sugar. I had the same experie...

Reboot

I forgot to mention, I also saw a website called Jointhereeboot.com. I tried to watch the movie "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead"  but my connection keeps kicking me off. I will try to watch it today. Also joined them on FB think it will be just the motivation I need. Today so far I have had a cup of strawberries and some homemade tabbouleh with no oil. I should eat something before the gym..ttyl

Happy Monday! Time for a fresh start! I have had a pretty hard time focusing and staying motivated, think I am just being hard on myself (cause I have pretty much stayed on track). The last workout I had was the walk at the park on Thursday. I feel like I just felt burnt out and needed a break. My hormones kinda have made me feel overemotional. This weekend I just felt like sitting around watching movies and eating junk food but I tried to push myself out of the house =) I also have been staying up late and waking up late. Saturday I met my friends at the mall (shopping is my favorite form of cardio!) We walked around and then had lunch at Stove Oven, I had the Goat Cheese Chicken Salad (no chicken, no bacon, no cheese, no dressing) and asked for lemon wedges for my dressing. Oh and I removed the huge piece of delicious looking bread and threw it away! I also had an Iced T which I barely drank. After lunch, the girls wanted coffee so we headed over to...

First Friday of Summer =)

Hi friends! so sleepy! so today I didn't work out again (I've been bad!) I have been kinda hard on myself even though I enjoy working out, I can take a break from it occasionally. Instead I spent the day with my friends, we had lunch at CPK.I ordered the split pea barley soup (cup) and the bbq chicken salad no chicken no dressing and they forgot to omit the cheese. It was pretty exciting eating a few pieces of cheese haha. oh and no tortilla strips. After lunch I had a cup of coffee at coffee bean with only cinnamon for flavoring. I normally have tea but I was getting really sleepy. I later went to Whole foods and picked up some delicious salads! I was starving at this point so I had a green smoothie which held me over for a bit until I drove to the dinner party. My sister in law had friends over and the salads were a hit! The first one was kale with strawberries which was amazing! Also, broccoli with tahini and finally quinoa....

Also want to add that I am eating nuts and beans as well. Shot this video late night just for fun but I will update with more info..but doesn't seem to be getting much traffic ...

My Night

I almost left without telling you about dinner! I met up with my friends at a place called The Red Room. They had a few great salad options. I ordered the kale salad with almonds, golden raisins and quinoa (come to think of it I don't recall any quinoa in there)  hold the cheese. The host suggested a glass of wine ...it seemed like it would be almost rude of me not to have wine so I decided to try his suggestion. I had a 2010 Mount Nelson Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, which tasted like grapefruits. I have an obsession with citrus tastes and scents! I only had half a glass which wasn't a big deal but enough to participate in the fun ;) Wow I ate alot today! Oh ya I also ate a piece of cake my mom's friend baked ...I should probably read a few pages of   E2L ( Eat to Live book saw on Dr. Oz)  to get focused again....good night!

My Day

Image
my gym partner suggested trying this rice...let me know if you  have ever tried it  I found black beans that aren't in a salty can! yey..more brownies soon! Good Evening! (Dracula voice) lol ..so today I used the blow dry technique I learned on you tube and it worked =) pretty amazing what you can learn on youtube! I had lunch with a friend at Laurel Tavern in Studio City, which is more of a bar in the evenings. I ordered the artichoke and a  chopped salad with no cheese, it had corn which made it kinda sweet and yummy. After lunch I rushed to the gym but my gym buddy was stuck in traffic so I suggested we go to the park for a nice walk around the lake instead. I was looking forward to the gym, especially since I missed class on Tuesday, but sometimes you really need to go with the flow.During class I don't really get to talk to my friend, this way we saw some scenery and had a nice chat. I came home starving, I had dinner plans at 9 but I couldn't ...

Tea Tree Oil

Good Morning oops afternoon almost ...so I stayed up last night watching you tube tutorials about tea tree oil. The best method I found was dipping a cotton swab into the oil and then applying it in different sections of my scalp. The Whole foods lady told me to dilute it with another oil so I was just careful not to put too much and then I also put coconut oil (more towards the ends) which I rubbed into my scalp. I put a dash of olive oil too lol I figured why not make a salad dressing in my hair lol! I put a towel on my pillow and slept with it in  my hair. I haven't blow dried yet but I'll let you know how my scalp feels. Those tutorials lead me to other ones like how to wash your hair. I found a great tip about conditioner. I usually put a lot of conditioner all over my hair but your roots don't really need that much because its "new" hair. It just feels nice  but it's probably weighing down my hair and drying out my scalp. Going forward I will just put...

Gym, Whole Foods, Cheesecake Factory

Image
Good evening! Tonight I went to body pump again, after class my gym buddy and I walked over to whole foods. I bought tea tree oil which I am excited to try, carrots, celery, kale, apples and a pear (to try to replicate the dressing from last night). Afterwards we went to Cheesecake Factory and ordered our usual vegan dishes like the mushroom lettuce wraps (ask them not to use butter). when I got home I had a protein shake...I am kinda hungry not sure why...when I don't work out I definitely don't get as hungry but guess it means my body is burning calories so its a good thing. My mom mentioned that we had some coupons from Whole foods. I guess they have a little newspaper full of coupons and recipes..pretty cool..I need to research a bit about putting tea tree oil on my scalp so I will give you more info tomorrow. goodnight!

Saving the Dying Veggies

Has anyone tried this? I haaaaaaaaate blowdrying my hair ..does this help??  So, I never used to cook or buy vegetables. Apparently these things go bad quickly. No wonder people are going to the market all the time! I stopped buying as much and just making more trips as needed. A lot of what I was buying was starting to get yucky and since I don't like to waste I had to act fast! I found out that you can cook arugula just like spinach and it shrinks into a tiny amount which makes it easier to finish! I put a tiny bit of olive oil (2 tsp, measure it or else it's not tiny!!) and chopped up some garlic, added my arugula and voila! as the dressing here is what I made...honestly it didn't turn out that great, think my mistake was blending the lemon and orange instead of juicing it. I saw this recipe on E2L's PBS special and it's been in my phone for months! I finally tried it! Blend together... peeled orange  raw cashews toasted sesame seeds ( I did...

Buy only What you NEED

Image
Good afternoon! I had such a fun day yesterday! I needed a couple things from CVS and thought why not take a walk instead of driving there?! Since I didn't have plans til later in the day, I thought this would be a good opportunity to clean out my bathroom and to see if I need to buy anything else. I ended up finding almost everything I needed! At the start of every season, take the time out to clean out your kitchen, closet bathroom, garage etc. We often forget that we even have things because they are stored away. Since losing my job last year, I have tried to follow a "don't buy it unless you REALLY need it" plan. I know what you're thinking! I didn't NEED the yellow blazer from ZARA but hey I'm not perfect and it really made me happy. We are so focused on material things! Ask yourself  "what if I could never buy anything again and I had to make do with what I already own?"  I know this may sound a little extreme but cheating is ...

Home Hair Color

Image
Happy Monday! So this weekend I went to Namie's Beauty Center which is one of my favorite beauty supply stores in the valley. I used to pay 100s of dollars to get my hair colored but my mom suggested that she colors my hair in our kitchen. Surprisingly my hair color has never looked so good. I am a brunette and every salon I have been to whether it's expensive and shi shi or more affordable like Floyds, has made my hair color too dark or too reddish orange. The people that work at Namie's are experts in color and helped me pick a color. I don't think I will ever color my hair at a salon again (unless I get highlights). I used the color "5-0" and 3 ounces of Volumizer. The color does have some red in it but I would call it like a chocolate brown. I put my hair in a bun after I washed it and went to Body Pump class. This is a really fun weights class at 24 Hour fitness. I have to say it has changed the shape of my body, specifically my booty and arms. It...

Guiltless Chocolate Affair

Happy Father's Day! I went to a Pilates class today at 24Hour fitness =) I pretty much rolled out of bed threw on some clothes and a pair of flip flops grabbed my mat and headed out. The hardest part of the workout is actually going!!!!!!!!!! It was a cool class that helped me work on my core, pretty challenging at times but the more I go the stronger I will get =) After class my brother wanted to have lunch so I suggested we take a walk to the restaurant Jinky's. I ordered green tea Iced-T and the quinoa salad with no feta cheese. After lunch my brother made me a grapefruit, orange juice for dessert..yummy! By the time I came home I was kinda hungry again so I heated up some leftover soup...I know its almost a 100 degrees but I was too lazy to make anything. So let me tell you about last night! I went to the mall with my beautiful sister (in-law) and we had lunch at Bloomingdale's. I ordered a hot green tea and the special of the day Salmon with lentil salad. The salmo...
