Saving the Dying Veggies
Has anyone tried this? I haaaaaaaaate blowdrying my hair ..does this help??
So, I never used to cook or buy vegetables. Apparently these things go bad quickly. No wonder people are going to the market all the time! I stopped buying as much and just making more trips as needed. A lot of what I was buying was starting to get yucky and since I don't like to waste I had to act fast! I found out that you can cook arugula just like spinach and it shrinks into a tiny amount which makes it easier to finish! I put a tiny bit of olive oil (2 tsp, measure it or else it's not tiny!!) and chopped up some garlic, added my arugula and voila! as the dressing here is what I made...honestly it didn't turn out that great, think my mistake was blending the lemon and orange instead of juicing it. I saw this recipe on E2L's PBS special and it's been in my phone for months! I finally tried it!
Blend together...
peeled orange
raw cashews
toasted sesame seeds ( I didn't put sesame seeds)
blood orange vinegar (I didnt have this so I put balsamic and apple cider instead)
rice vinegar (I later realized that we actually have this)
peeled lemon
next time I would juice the lemon and maybe the orange too...I could taste the white stuff and it made it really bitter...I also want to try this blood orange vinegar...think the balsamic made it to acidy....I will keep experimenting..oh and I put a tiny bit of flax oil for omega 3
mom bought me these cute little vegetables I think they are called baby zuchini...a good alternative to eating cucumbers with hummus or moutabal (baba ganoush) Zuchini's are a good source of folate, potassium and vitamin A. Not sure yet what those things are good for yet but hey it sounds good to me ;)
this is a bleaching cream that I have had for months now and I am scared of using! I have some darkness on one side of my face and no one can figure out what it's from =/ It's probably from the sun or some harsh product I used who knows..I will prob try this tonight, I'll let you know how it goes.
I saw this gross post on fb....I loooooooove sushi but lately have been avoiding it unless I am with friends and they really want to go. Think this pic will help me stay away lol!
So it's almost summer and I'm having soup for lunch??? well I really tried to eat my mushrooms raw but I just don't like the taste =P yucky! my mom had made a vegetable stew for my dad using some sorta squash and tomato sauce, so I got creative =) I put all the mushrooms (stems removed..why do you have to remove the stems? not sure) in a pan with no oil since the mushroom already has water, then I combined the mushrooms with the leftovers in my blendtech and heated it up...WOW! this was gourmet status delicious!
I also had a huge box of cherry tomatoes and decided to make some tomato juice, I used to love bloody mary's but apparently real tomatoes look pink not red! that stuff was probably food coloring!! ugh! so I used lemon juice as my liquid. My mom saves every single gar or bottle she ever buys which I used to think was so weird but now I think it's really awesome! this bottle was from a carafe of wine! the cool thing is it has a lid so I can put it in the fridge and drink it later....I'm still learning about portions as well =)
I saw this in my friend fridge and thought it was adorable! cause it's pink of course! I wasn't drinking almond milk for a few weeks cause I needed a break from it..for the last couple nights though I have been drinking this with a banana and some Hemp Protein powder. Like I said I hate wasting stuff and I have all this powder that is sitting in the fridge and I figure why not? since I am working out and not eating meat ..get some protein in my system! I don't believe in drinking protein powders made of chemicals but this one seems pretty cool....the banana makes it sweet and not gross...
