Staying Faithful on Vaca

You can still stick to your diet and exercise plan even while on vacation! This weekend a friend and I drove to Coronado Island and stayed at the historic Hotel Del Coronado. We packed a cooler with coconut water, colorful bell peppers, grape tomatoes, kiwis, bananas, peaches and berries. She brought her Magic Bullet, a mini blender she bought at Costco, and it was so much fun to use! Upon arrival, we checked in and went down to the bar/restaurant for a quick dinner. We ordered hot tea, a field green salad with no dressing (even the healthy options usually have too much oil), hummus with pita (didn't eat the pita) and a quinoa burger (no cheese, no bun, no fun jk ;)). After dinner we went down to the Jacuzzi  to relax our muscles (we took an early morning spin class in LA before heading out!!). We decided to call it an early night because we had a full schedule the following day....
We woke up early and headed to the beach for a yoga class. I have taken a couple yoga classes at Runyon Canyon in Hollywood in the park but yoga on the beach was a whole nother level (sorry 5th grade grammar teacher but  it just describes it so well!) . In a perfect world I would wake up every morning to yoga on the beach! I highly recommend it !!!!!!!

After yoga we went inside for a spin class followed by a sculpting class (we almost flaked on the third class but we met a man in his 80s who was also taking all three classes and if he could do it we could do it!). So glad we took the third class because it was full of new info =) She taught us some simple and fun ways to get  toned using a medicine ball, bender ball, 2 lb weights and a resistance band. My friend just text me that she bought us both resistance bands :D. You have to remember to keep staying in shape fun, by trying new things! They also had surfing lessons (which I definitely want to try one day)...

We had definitely worked up an appetite so we headed back to the room to blended a couple smoothies using our fruits and coconut water...the peach one was my favorite so yummy!!! :P Since it was too gloomy to lay out by the pool or beach we decided to go for a walk and to do some shopping and find a lunch spot.

saw this in a window...Love this!

A reminder not to smoke ...I hate to admit this I do occasionally have a cigarette or hookah here and there but I no longer consider myself a smoker, I used to smoke almost every day and even though I haven't completely quit 100% I am getting there!!

I am loving coral right now (even for my pedicures!) It looks great with a tan =) This is a really cute jumper I saw at one of the boutiques.

How cute are these bikes!??? Another great way to keep in shape on vaca! I fell of my bike when I was a kid (still have a scar on my cupid's bow) and never got back on, but one of my goals this summer is to conquer my fear..It's also a fun activity to do with the family if you are traveling with kids...

another fun idea is flying a kite on the beach ....

we found this really cute sandwich shop called "wich wich" which (lol) offered some vegetarian options. The concept of the place was really cool, you fill out a form on a paper bag.......

We headed back to the hotel for a quick dip in the Jacuzzi, after a nice bath we drank another smoothie as dessert. It was time for a nice treat, a blow out at the spa. My stylist was a beautiful girl that was also really into a healthy lifestyle etc. so we chatted and exchanged some ideas. She told me to use tea tree oil on my scalp for dryness. I love meeting new people and connecting you always learn something new! She also recommended some bars to check out when we go to downtown. On the walk back to the room, we decided we decided to have an early dinner and went all out with our veggies!!! The hotel has a little garden where they grow veggies and herbs like fresh rosemary and cute little eggplants sooooooooooooo cool! check out our dinner

(that's the quinoa patty on the top left)

We went back to the room to relax and get ready to go out. One thing I love about taking trips with girlfriends is that you share your skincare and make up routine and products with eachother =)
We took a cab to the city but decided our heels were way too high to walk around looking for a spots, so we got on a pedal taxi....sooooooo fun!

we found a night club with some fun dance music (more exercise!!!) We treated ourselves to a glass of a champagne. I've been trying not to drink but I will occasionally have a glass of wine.I figured champagne is  in the wine category so its ok ;) after hitting the dancefloor we were ready for a late night snack...our feet were so tired so we kicked them up in our pedal taxi =) we loved that thing so much we had to get back on there!

we found a cute late night burger joint which happened to have a quinoa burger!!!!!!!!! we had the bun which was wheat and a few of our friend's fries...we headed back to the room and ordered some hot chocolate room service yum!...this was our cheat night but it really wasn't too bad. The next morning we never made it to our morning yoga, slept in, packed up and headed out to the deck area for some lunch before we head out...such a beautiful day! we order a veggie burger without the bun...honestly, we were getting sick of these limited options and were excited to get back home for some home cooked meals...

We went to the main lobby to get our bags and check out and saw this beautiful room with a breakfast buffet...(maybe next time)..
check out all the fruits!

The Del is known to be haunted, we heard the 4th floor of the elevator in the main lobby is spooky so I had to check it out...

Marilyn Monroe who I am obsessed with has stayed at the Del, saw this at the gift shop..so true!

This was such a fun trip! Bonded with my friend and had a great time! Always try to be flexible on trips and open to trying new things, it's easy to disagree on where to go and what to do but it's important to keep the peace and compromise...you might discover something new or maybe even meet someone new along the way ;) just be open to it......

It's great to get away and slow down life and take the time out to see the beauty around us that we take for granted...

There's no place like home. I came home feeling a little dehydrated so I made myself some kale lemonade =) My friends were meeting at Cheesecake factory for dinner so I met them to recap our weekends. The mushroom lettuce wraps are awesome! I try to stay away from dining at Cheesecake  because their portions are usually huge but they have added a lot of lighter options now that are great! ..Tonight I'm going to the kings game =) Go Kings!!!
